Chief Petty Officer, Arriving

What a great day to be in the Navy! A group of us headed over to another base in the Kabul area this past Thursday for the promotion of five sailors to Chief Petty Officer. After nearly a year serving in this Army centric environment, it was fantastic to see khakis again.

The ceremony began with the Chief Selectees marching in while singing Anchors Aweigh. The Master Chiefs came forward to read them the Chief’s Charge. Rear Admiral Dussault was the guest speaker and gave the soon to be chiefs some inspiring words. The oath was administered by a current senior chief following by the pinning of the anchors. Each chief was fitted with his new cover by the admiral and piped aboard the chief’s mess with two strikes of the ship’s bell.

Making Chief is a significant milestone in a sailor's career. We are all proud of our shipmates. Go Navy!
